In the Philippines, land-based gaming generated €713.8 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the first quarter of 2022, which represents an increase of 30.3% over the same period in 2021.
Licensed casino revenue was €549 million, 29.5% more than the previous year.
Table games revenue amounted to €14.7 million (PHP 808.2 million), while junket operators generated €2.5 million (PHP 139.8 million). Internal revenue from bingo amounted to €266,000 (PHP 14.6 million), while poker revenue amounted to €204,000 (PHP 11.2 million).
The remaining income was made up of other authorized activities. Bingo operations generated revenue of €63.4 million (PHP 3.48 billion). Meanwhile, electronic sabong (online betting on cockfighting) generated €30.2 million (PHP 1.66 billion during the quarter).
Recently, Rodrigo Duterte, outgoing president of the Philippines, ordered an end to e-sanbong, stating that he "was working against our values".
Revenue from other electronic games totaled €22.5 million (PHP 1.24 billion).
