Las Vegas and poker fans from around the world will be waiting this year to host and enjoy the 2020 edition of the World Series of Poker, the largest live poker festival on the planet. The organizers have just announced that they will not be able to hold the event during the planned period (26 May - 14 July), delaying its start until a still undetermined date in the autumn.
The 51st edition of the largest live poker tournament series on the planet confirms that it is the last sporting event affected by the outbreak of the virus. For now, the event is suspended on the scheduled dates (end of May to early July) and the Organizers hope that it can be held in the fall.
Thus, the Covid-19 just 36 days before the official start of the 51st edition of the largest and most important live poker event in the world, forces this important change. The proposed dates are not yet known, hoping first of all that it will be possible to travel from one continent to another.
Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director has made it clear that "The welfare of the players, the workers, the media and everything else comes first. For this reason, it was inevitable for us to postpone the event from the scheduled dates to an indefinite period next fall. The 101 tournament schedule will be reviewed and it is likely that many tournaments will be played online through our poker room this summer.
