Rainy and refreshing autumn day and visit to the ZITRO headquarters in the capital of Spain. Taking advantage of his time in Madrid, its founder, Johnny Ortiz, gives me an interview with his son Bryan and Manuela Jiménez, Vice President of the Group.
I asked for the interview with Johnny Ortiz because we need to hear and see a strong, established leader who is energizing the gaming industry right now. His optimism and drive are what we all need. And so, it was. I enjoyed chatting with them as he told me how ZITRO is standing out on the industry map and charting a great future.
“We bet on quality, diversification and creation. In these difficult times for companies, we are hiring more qualified personnel to achieve our short, medium- and long-term objectives. We also invest in our team. We are focused on giving more training because we want to advance even more”, he comments with the determination that characterizes him. "I am sure that we are going to succeed" That is why we have to move forward and we do not stop creating new products".
"With LINK KING we have made the best machine on the market, a machine widely known by our customers and consolidated in the market". And he anticipates me: "Now we are going to revolutionize the way of playing in Spain again, so I make a suggestion to the operators: MAKE SPACE!".
And Johnny pauses, laughs, smiles… Isn't that absolutely stunning? I have to stop, look at him and think again, discover myself: I am in front of a genius.
He tells me again: “It will be a product that will revolutionize the market once again. A new way of playing so far not known in the Spanish gaming industry. We will be the first to launch it ”. When? I ask. "Between the end of this year and the first quarter of 2021. Stay tuned, because if you don't have this novelty from ZITRO, you will be left behind." Take note, bingo halls, casinos and gaming halls in Spain...
ZITRO is also standing out in its digital area, enhancing its production and constantly looking for talent. “We are focused on diversification,” emphasizes Johnny Ortiz. But he does not believe that the online product will in any case replace land-based "although we are working in both fields with a new game catalog for the first quarter of 2021".
“The problem of the pandemic will not end our customs, sooner or later everything will go back to the way it was before. We're not going to stop going to bars, socializing… online gaming is fine when you're home alone, but it won't end our habit of going out to enjoy our free time”. And ZITRO will help us to enjoy even more, thanks to its capacity for innovation.
“Our dedication to the online does not mean that we are using the same equipment, but that we attack the development of land-based games at the same time and this is obviously only achieved by hiring more professionals. Spain needs to retain talent, we need more staff, specialists in design, programming… ”. And that's the way it is, it is only necessary to take a look at the constant job offer that ZITRO publishes on the internet, placing it as one of the largest employers in the gaming and leisure industry in Spain.
“This work in both the land-based and online areas, makes us have a presence in 40 countries at the moment” and recalls that “what requires more resources in the digital area are the integrations for each operator, for each platform."
Johnny insists that the novelty that will be presented shortly in Spain is the result of the group's effort to make good products. In addition, “it will collect like never before!”, He remarks with his overwhelming energy. "The novelty will be the conjunction of the other two, LINK KING and LINK ME, being completely different," he tells me with an enigmatic look.
Johnny is pure magnetism, and that charisma influences machines and constant and sustained growth. "Our range of products around the world is impressive, different, adapted to each market and that requires great preparation", not suitable for all companies, that's for sure. "We have a planned product until 2024: at least one new machine a year for Spain," he says.
The one who resists wins, I comment. But he answers: "Apart from resisting, you have to have a good product, if not, it is impossible to endure." "We are going to revolutionize Spain; our world leadership supports us".
And, in addition, he has the close collaboration of his son, Bryan Ortiz, who looks at his father with pride, attentive, constantly learning, immersing himself in genius and giving off seduction. His task in the coming months will be to take charge of the financial management of the multinational, so he tells me with humility and desire to join the company with the drive required by a multinational of this caliber.
