With this, the head of the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling, Mikel Arana and the president of the AFE, David Aganzo, agree on a collaboration framework that aims to prevent the appearance of conduct that may constitute illegal actions in football.

For this reason, a Joint Monitoring Commission is created to monitor compliance with the general protocol. The body will meet twice a year and is made up of two representatives from the DGOJ and two from the AFE.

The joint framework proposes a series of actions that range from holding seminars on the subject, to developing joint information campaigns to raise awareness in the media and social networks, as well as in sports spaces.

Problematic

For the DGOJ, one of the most worrying phenomena is corruption linked to the manipulation of sports competitions and betting fraud. The issue, for the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, affects the development of activities related to gaming and undermines the interests of its participants and operators in this sector.

Likewise, the ministry considers that this problem constitutes one of the greatest threats looming over the sport, as they threaten its essential values ??and remove fans and supporters from their environment.

This diagnosis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs is shared internationally. The Commission and the European Parliament already highlighted the seriousness of this problem through the Resolution of March 14, 2013, on match-fixing and corruption in sport.

To these initiatives of the European Union must be added the Convention of the Council of Europe on the manipulation of sports competitions, pending ratification in Spain, which aims to adopt a global response from various fields to face this threat.
