The ICE Sustainable Gambling Zone will officially launch with a €65,000 charity donation to safer gambling organizations. Ewa Bakun, Director of Industry Insight at Clarion Gaming, announced that the fund was raised through contributions from sponsors including Cirsa, Orenes, Betsson Group, Flutter, Acordjoc, ALEA, Novomatic, Playtech, and Novomatic Spain, bringing the total donated at ICE since 2018 to €385,000.
Bakun noted that the donation would support significant projects in player protection. For instance, last year's recipient, Bet Blocker, used their funding to create a Catalan version of their acclaimed consumer app, set to launch at ICE Barcelona.
Situated in the Fast Forward area of the expo, the Sustainable Gambling Zone will focus on discussions and collaborations around player protection. This area aims to lead initiatives that promote healthy gambling practices from the start of the player journey, incorporating safer gambling considerations beyond just compliance requirements.
The new zone, replacing the original Consumer Protection Zone, will cover 490 square meters and include participation from 26 safer gambling entities, including Spanish organizations ASENCAS and FEJAR. Over three days, it will host educational content dedicated to consumer protection and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues.
