Merkur Gaming US, the American arm of Germany’s Merkur Group, has been granted a licence to manufacture and distribute gaming products in the state of Nevada, giving the company direct access to one of the world’s leading casino markets.
At the same sitting, the Nevada Gaming Commission approved Merkur’s planned acquisition of Gaming Arts LLC, a long-standing strategic partner based in Las Vegas. The transaction is expected to close in early Q3 2025.
“This licence is a key strategic lever for expanding our international business and lays the foundation for a stable, successful future for the entire Group,” said Lars Felderhoff, Chair of the Merkur Group Management Board.
Merkur first secured a Nevada licence in 1998 but withdrew from the US in the early 2000s. Now the Group —through its global sales and R&D brand Merkur Gaming— returns with renewed regulatory approval and extensive international experience.
Michael Gauselmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, welcomed the decision, recalling that the first licence was awarded under his leadership: “The approval underlines Merkur’s fully compliant, forward-looking approach in every area.” Regulators closed the hearing with the words “Welcome back to the industry.”
Besides the licence, clearance to acquire Gaming Arts marks a second cornerstone of Merkur’s North-American comeback. David Colvin, owner of Gaming Arts, commented: “We congratulate Merkur on this outstanding milestone and welcome them to the State of Nevada.”
Felderhoff noted that tighter regulation in Germany has made international growth more attractive: “Our decades of experience give us a solid base to strengthen Merkur’s footprint abroad. Re-entering the North-American casino market will significantly accelerate the Group’s global expansion.”
