Members of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) have successfully completed the second annual reporting process for the organisation’s pan-European Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Guidelines. Major operators including bet365, Betsson Group, Entain, Flutter Entertainment, LeoVegas Group, evoke, FDJ UNITED, and Superbet took part, reaffirming the sector’s shared commitment to high AML standards across Europe’s online gambling industry.

Published in March 2023, the AML guidelines provide sector-specific, practical guidance to online gambling operators on conducting customer and business risk assessments, implementing customer due diligence (CDD), reporting suspicious transactions, and keeping records. They adopt a risk-based approach aligned with EU and FATF standards, and address online gambling’s unique features, which AML regulators may be less familiar with.

“We’re pleased to have completed the second annual reporting process and thank our members for their dedication to this collaborative initiative,” said Dr. Ekaterina Hartmann, EGBA’s Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs. “Together, we aim to raise the bar for AML compliance and encourage other operators to follow our lead.”

As part of this ongoing effort, EGBA is considering updates to the guidelines in 2026 to introduce a minimum list of AML documents, and provide enhanced guidance on risk assessments, payments, outsourcing, and sports integrity. The guidelines will also be adapted to reflect the upcoming EU AML Regulation.

Participation is open to non-member operators, with one company already involved. EGBA welcomes additional operators to join this initiative to reinforce the industry’s proactive role in fighting financial crime.
