The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of Brazil’s Ministry of Finance and the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security have launched a free online course entitled “Consumer Rights – Bettors and Bets: Beyond Gaming”, aimed at educating players about their rights, the obligations of betting operators, and the risks associated with unregulated platforms.
The training, the result of a cooperation agreement signed in February 2025, seeks to promote responsible and conscious consumption in the regulated betting market. Registration is open until October 20 on the National School of Consumer Protection (ENDC) website. Classes will run online from October 27 to December 1, with a total of 30 hours and certification issued by the University of Brasília (UnB).
The program is divided into five modules:
- What are fixed-odds bets, history and market operation.
- Navigating the “.bet.br” environment – Your rights.
- Navigating the “.bet.br” environment – Responsible gaming.
- Navigating the “.bet.br” environment – Mental health.
- Navigating the “.bet.br” environment – Financial health.
According to SPA Secretary Regis Dudena, a central point of the course is clarifying that only websites with the .bet.br domain are officially authorized by the Ministry of Finance, ensuring consumer safety and protection.
Meanwhile, National Consumer Secretary Paulo Henrique Pereira emphasized that this joint initiative represents an important step forward:
“This course provides quality information to help consumers fully exercise their rights, while promoting responsible consumption and safeguarding citizens’ financial and mental health.”
