The new specialised unit of the Federal Police will reinforce efforts against match-fixing, betting fraud and illegal gambling.
The Brazilian Government is advancing its strategy to protect sports integrity with the creation of Base Apostas, a new specialised unit within the Federal Police focused on preventing and combating match-fixing, betting fraud and illegal gambling.
The initiative is part of the National Policy for the Prevention and Combat of Sports Match-Fixing, coordinated by the Ministry of Sport, and represents a further step in the monitoring of the country’s sports betting ecosystem.
The goal is to protect athletes, competitions, clubs and fans, strengthening the credibility of Brazilian sport at a key moment for the consolidation of the regulated betting market.
With Base Apostas, Brazil adds a specific institutional tool to address one of the sector’s main challenges: ensuring that market growth is accompanied by effective controls, traceability and anti-fraud mechanisms.
