Loterie Romande, the lottery and betting operator in French-speaking Switzerland under an exclusive rights model, allocated a total of 252 million Swiss francs to public utility projects in 2025, an amount equivalent to an average of 690,000 Swiss francs daily for the benefit of the community. The Swiss authority Gespa recalls that Swisslos and Loterie Romande maintain a monopoly on online sports betting in their respective territories, with Loterie Romande operating in French-speaking Switzerland.

The entity, headquartered in Lausanne, closed the financial year with a gross gaming product of 429.8 million Swiss francs, a result that Loterie Romande attributes to a combination of favorable factors, including the long jackpot cycles of EuroMillions, the strong performance of draw games, and the dynamism of sports betting.

According to the organization, these results confirm the solidity and stability of its economic model, although they should not be interpreted as the start of a growing trend for upcoming financial years. Loterie Romande operates through a network of 2,350 points of sale in French-speaking Switzerland and an online platform, from which it offers its game catalog within a regulated framework oriented toward public protection.

In line with its redistributive mission, all profits generated in 2025 were allocated to nearly 5,000 public utility projects in areas such as culture, social action, health, research, education, environment, tourism, heritage, and sports. François Longchamp, president of Loterie Romande, highlighted that this model combines product appeal, a responsible framework, and the full distribution of profits to the common good.

A model supported by lotteries, betting, and a retail network

During 2025, Loterie Romande maintained a diversified offer integrated by 47 scratch cards and e-tickets, seven draw games, sports betting across 26 disciplines, and horse race betting.

The financial year was marked by the development of digital products, the success of the new Loto Express format, prolonged EuroMillions cycles, and a dynamic sports betting offer. Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, CEO of Loterie Romande, stressed that the results demonstrate the entity's capacity to reconcile economic strength, innovation, and social responsibility within a demanding regulatory environment.

Loterie Romande's activity also had a direct impact on local commerce. In 2025, the organization paid 79.2 million Swiss francs in sales commissions to its 2,350 partner businesses, a remuneration that represents significant support for points of sale located in both villages and urban centers.

Player protection as the core of the model

The protection of minors and vulnerable individuals against the risks associated with gambling constitutes one of Loterie Romande's central tasks. The entity applies a comprehensive program of preventive measures across its retail network, featuring specific training on the prohibition of gambling for minors, the prevention of excessive gambling, the detection of risky behaviors, and referrals to specialized centers.

The application of these measures is systematically supervised. In 2025, Loterie Romande carried out 2,959 inspections using mystery shoppers to verify compliance with public protection protocols in partner establishments.

In the online channel, the entity introduced a new early detection tool for at-risk players in 2025. This system evaluates the risk profile of users and offers personalized recommendations. In cases of over-indebtedness, failure to meet financial obligations, or bets that are disproportionate to income or assets, players can be entered into the national registry of excluded individuals shared by Loterie Romande, Swisslos, and the casinos of Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

252 million for sports, culture, and social cohesion

Thanks to its redistributive model, Loterie Romande allocated the entirety of its 2025 profits to associations and projects of public interest in French-speaking Switzerland.

Within this contribution, nearly 20 million Swiss francs were allocated to elite sports through entities such as Swiss Olympic, the Swiss Football Association, and the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. In addition, another 42 million Swiss francs went to amateur sports, providing aid for infrastructures, sporting events, and the training of new generations across the six French-speaking cantons.

Beyond sports, Loterie Romande highlighted its role in strengthening the social and cultural fabric of the region by supporting initiatives that contribute to social cohesion, community life, and the promotion of French-speaking Switzerland.
