OKTO PAYMENTS integrates directly with Yape to strengthen online gaming payments in Peru

The global payment service provider connects directly with the country's leading digital wallet and incorporates Yape One Shot and Yape On File from a single API, with the aim of reducing friction at checkout and raising approval rates for merchants, including iGaming merchants.

OKTO PAYMENTS, a global payment service provider (PSP) specializing in high-growth and highly regulated industries, announced a direct integration with Yape, Peru's leading digital wallet. With it, the company goes from offering Yape as another payment method to operating a direct connection with its infrastructure, which – according to the firm – translates into better economic conditions, greater control and a faster experience for businesses in sectors such as iGaming, e-commerce, digital content and the creator economy.

The integration brings together Yape's two payment experiences in a single API connection. Yape One Shot allows you to authorize one-time purchases with a single tap, without entering codes or registering bank details, while Yape On File links the wallet once so that subsequent payments are completed with one click. Together, they cover the entire customer cycle: acquisition with minimal friction and loyalty of recurring buyers.

Yape, backed by BCP, has more than 16 million active users – 7 million of them previously unbanked – and has become the preferred payment method for more than 5 million local businesses. OKTO PAYMENTS points out that transactions through trusted wallets such as Yape reach approval rates between 8% and 10% higher than those of traditional methods such as bank transfers. The announcement comes in a context of strong expansion: digital transactions in Peru grew by 61.8% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, according to BCRP data compiled by CAPECE.

"A direct alliance with Yape means that we are closer to the origin of the money, which translates into better performance and better economic conditions for the businesses that operate through our platform," said César Rodríguez Otaola, General Manager for North Latin America at OKTO PAYMENTS. For her part, Claudia Silva, Head of Payments at Yape, stressed that the integration "brings that simplicity directly to digital businesses," with "fewer barriers during the payment process" both in the first purchase and in the recurring user.
