ARGENTINA: Manuel Lao's Casino Flotante could operate Online Gaming

Next Thursday the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires will have two decisions related to the gaming sector on its agenda. We must highlight the one related to changes in the regulation of online gaming, which currently prohibits companies with land-based gaming halls from being holders of permits for the exploitation of virtual bets.

Regarding these proposed changes, the local government affirms that the objective is to combat clandestine online gaming, and to respond to the demands of companies in the land-based sector that has been without activity since March 20 due to confinement as a result of the crisis of COVID-19.

This radical change would allow both the Floating Casino (Casino Flotante) and the Palermo Hippodrome, closed for six months, to have official authorization to participate in the exploitation of online gaming that could begin in the last quarter of 2020.

On the other hand, the Legislature will discuss the following aspects: regulation of advertising, mandatory verification of identification and age of users and the creation of a Self-exclusion Registry for the City of Buenos Aires.
