 Genting Singapore publishes a report on its sustainability achievements during 2020

 
Genting Singapore has published a comprehensive report on its sustainability achievements during 2020, a year characterized by great challenges. In this regard, the company has reiterated that it focuses on five key areas: people, customers, community, environment and market.

Genting Singapore has highlighted that during the crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic they have supported not only their customers, partners and employees, but also the communities where they operate. More specifically, they have worked hand in hand with the Government of Singapore in the fight against the spread of the virus by stepping forward as Managing Agent of Singapore's two largest national Community Care Facilities (CCF) at the Singapore EXPO and MAX Atria, and the Big Box warehouse mall which represents 27% of total national bed space.

It should be noted that more than 2,000 employees from the Asian giant responded to the call as volunteers and were on the front line to help successfully contain the national outbreak of COVID-19.

Genting Singapore has summarized its sustainability achievements during 2020 as follows:
  • 2,000 volunteers
  • 344,000 hours in volunteerism through RWS Cares
  • More than 2000 team members trained in Safe Management Measures
  • Asia Supply Management Awards 2020, winner for the transformation of digital procurement and High Commendation for Ethical Procurement
  • Over 500 tonnes of waste reductionction through sustained sourcing and supply chain innovation
  • Over 81% cumulative energy savings since 2013
  • Over 64% cumulative toilet savings since 2013
  • 46% reduction in waste sent for incineration (vs 2019)
  • 17% of waste produced is recycled (Non-recyclable waste increased due to COVID-19)
  • High Efficiency (HE) filters and germicidal UV irradiators installed to disinfect the air

On the other hand, regarding responsible gaming, Genting Singapore has launched the Manage Game Play (MGP) Program in 2020 - a voluntary tool developed with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) to help patrons self-regulate time spent at gaming machines. The program proved successful, with 90% of survey respondents confirming their positive views of the program’s efficacy.
