This past Wednesday, Hard Rock and the 815 Entertainment group laid the first stone in the construction of the future Rockford Casino, which is scheduled to open by the end of 2023.
The event was held in the vicinity of the temporary location that it now occupies and several personalities gathered in what is the first step towards the arrival of an establishment that will cover almost 55,000 square meters.
Officials present include Hard Rock International COO Jon Lucas, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, Congressman Darin Lahood, 815 Entertainment Chief Investment Officer Dan Fischer and guitarist Rick Nielsen.
This future casino will replace the current one, the first to receive approval from the State of Illinois to operate after the legislative expansion of the game signed in 2019. At the moment, they hardly offer slots and electronic games, but even so, the benefits in the first months of the year 2022 are already 35 million dollars.
Lucas has declared that the reception of Rockford is “overwhelming from the moment we arrived. The community has really embraced us and we are very grateful. Today's event is a big step forward for so much to come. We also want to thank our partners, who have been by our side every step of the way,” he added.
Labor-wise, this construction is great news for the residents of Rockford. In the works alone, 1,200 jobs will already be occupied, while in the future establishment, there will be approximately 1,000 employees. Meanwhile, the temporary premises already employ 300 people.
The RSC is not far behind for Hard Rock, which has not wasted time and has already partnered with Rockford Promise, an organization that awards school scholarships and whose agreement has already left 250 scholarship students.
The mayor of Rockford, Tom McNamara, has spoken in this regard, stating that “this association is much more than another business coming to the city, it is an investment in our community. The casino will make Rockford a destination for tourists who will shop in our stores, eat in our restaurants and sleep in our hotels, all while creating hundreds of jobs for our residents and making a positive impact in our community. We are very impressed with Hard Rock's dedication and commitment to our community and it shows what kind of partners they are."
Looking to the future, the establishment will feature, in addition to the usual gaming options, a Hard Rock Cafe, six different types of restaurants, a Council Oak Steaks and Seafood and a 1,600-seat venue designed to expand the entertainment offer.
