€15,000 funding will enable access to specialized nutritional and endocrinological care for oncology patients
The Flutter Foundation has partnered with a local chapter of the national Cancer Association to launch a new nutrition and endocrinology support service for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. With an initial funding commitment of €15,000, the initiative is designed to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for patients during and after their treatment.
The program aims to ensure that cancer patients have access to appropriate, specialized nutritional care, which experts agree can play a vital role in reducing treatment-related side effects and promoting recovery.
“This is about making sure patients can access the nutritional support they need to focus on healing and well-being, without worrying about financial barriers,” said Esther Martín-Ortega, Director of the Flutter Foundation. “We’re proud to support a project that has such a direct and meaningful impact on people’s lives.”
Jesús Mª Ferreiro, President of the regional Cancer Association, highlighted the importance of the new service:
“Thanks to the Flutter Foundation’s backing, we are able to meet a growing demand among cancer patients for professional nutritional and endocrinological care—support that is crucial throughout the treatment process and beyond.”
The association estimates that approximately 175 patients will benefit from the service in its initial phase, based on referrals by healthcare professionals.
Also present at the signing of the agreement was a representative from the local health authority, who praised the initiative as an example of effective collaboration between the public sector and private foundations to address urgent health and social needs.
