Rank Group raises more than £28,500 for unpaid carers

Employees and partners of Rank Group have raised more than £28,500 for the Carers Trust, an organisation that supports unpaid carers across the UK. The figure comes from two very different initiatives held in recent days: a mountain expedition in Morocco and the group's traditional charity poker night in London.
On Wednesday, September 23, 10 employees from different areas of the group traveled to Morocco to face the company's annual Big Challenge: the ascent of Mount Toubkal, whose summit reaches 4,167 meters in the Atlas Mountains. The company describes it as one of the most demanding solidarity challenges it has organized to date.
The expedition took place over two days of ascent and one day of descent, with long stages and nights of camping. The team completed the challenge and reached the summit, managing to raise £20,000 for the charity.
Angela Attard, Senior Head of Player Protection at Grosvenor London Victoria Casino, was one of the participants: "Climbing the Toubkal pushed me to the limit, but taking care of my mum taught me to keep going when the going gets tough. I climbed for those who can't and for every caregiver whose strength is silent, constant and extraordinary."
As a team toured the Atlas, The Vic casino in London hosted Rank Group's annual charity poker night , which brought together around 90 guests. The evening, organised with the support of the Carers Trust team and the company's hosts, combined poker games, entertainment, a raffle and donations for the expedition's participants.
The event raised more than £8,500, bringing the total for both initiatives to over £28,500.
The funds will go to Carers Trust's work with unpaid carers, people who care for a family member or friend while they combine that work with their own personal and professional lives. The company thanked all the participants, donors and sponsors, as well as the Vic team for their collaboration in the organization of the evening.
