Colombia: Fecoljuegos ask to regulate live casinos and suspension of taxes during quarantine
Evert Montero, president of Fecoljuegos
The Colombian gaming industry trade body (Fecoljuegos) requests the government to regulate live casinos, so that operators can maintain themselves during the crisis due to COVID-19, which has caused the fall in betting on internet 90%.
In this regard, Evert Montero, president of Fecoljuegos explains: "The idea is that in the studio with recording equipment the person in charge of the game can be at a table and interact with all those who are connected so that they can play virtually".
In a publication by Fecoljuegos, they highlight that this action "would contribute to streamline the operation, allow platforms to compete against illegality and generate more resources for health", in which the taxes generated by this activity are invested.
On the other hand, Montero highlights the importance of suspending the payment of taxes related to online gaming during the quarantine, while requesting the administration for authorization to reach a payment agreement with the operators.
In the words of the president of Fecoljuegos "it is requested to authorize Coljuegos to subscribe payment agreements with the operators, to exonerate them from the payment of default interest during the period granted."
