The Executive Director of the Gambling Control Authority, Juan Carlos Antonio Abrego, presented last Friday, June 26, the new guidelines for the regulation and control of gambling activities in Bolivian territory.
During the 2020 Accountability carried out by videoconference, the Director of the Gambling Control Authority indicated that they have scheduled the execution of different activities based on current conditions, the concerns of companies and the need to strengthen the country's economy.
Among the most important are the promulgation of a new regulation for business promotions, changes in the sanctioning regime and the presentation of a project to modify Law 060 on Lottery and Chance Games.
"We are working on a new regulation for business promotions, on a new sanctioning regime and on the amendment of Law 060 with the main objective of boosting the economy, strengthening the business fabric and therefore generating employment and creating wealth in our country . Among the aspects that will be modified are, for example, adjustment to regulatory standards, improving the conditions for processing business promotions; changes in the sanctioning regime to achieve proportionality in fines. Also, the gaming tax regime will be adapted in order to attract new investments and have the necessary conditions to create a gaming industry, which will also contribute to the elimination of illegal sites that do not give any guarantee to users, violate their rights. and they have no contribution to the State, "said the director, who also explained that in the framework of these modifications it is considered to control and regulate online gaming.
Antonio Abrego also pointed out that among the actions for the control and regulation of gaming halls is the establishment of the Online Control System (SICEL), which will make it possible to remotely control all the movements of machines from authorized sites.
On the other hand, he mentioned that during 2020 they will destroy the seized illegal gaming machines, through cooperation agreements that guarantee the protection of the environment.
In relation to the administrative aspects of the institution, he assured that they are working to improve internal control in contracting processes. Also, they have worked on a plan focused on the development of values ??of honesty, integrity and transparency to prevent irregular events in the public service.
Finally, he said that by virtue of the health emergency to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the need to maintain social distancing, the Gambling Control Authority has strengthened its technological tools.
"We work very hard to strengthen technological tools to facilitate the granting of online authorizations and procedures related to business promotions, providing those administered with all the facilities for their processing, also the Gambling Control Authority has established the digital signature for management of internal documents, gradually this tool will be incorporated for external use and in this way expedite the issuance of authorizations and management of legal and administrative documentation", said the director.
The Gambling Control Authority performs the Public Accountability in order to present in a transparent way the actions carried out for the regulation, control and supervision of lottery games, chance, draws and business promotions in national territory.
