The 1st quarterly report on the evolution of the online gaming market for the period January-March 2020 has been published in Spain.
In order to provide the most up-to-date information possible on the main variables of the national online gaming market, the DGOJ (Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego) has been publishing since June 2012 the so-called "Quarterly Reports". The report data is obtained from the information provided to the DGOJ quarterly by the authorized gaming operators.
In the first quarter of 2020, important innovations were introduced regarding the magnitudes of gross gaming margin (GGR) and promotion spending, in order to make the report more homogeneous.
Until 2019 the GGR was obtained directly from the operators. From the first quarter of 2020, the net gaming margin is calculated based on the basic magnitudes of participation, prizes, commissions and corresponding released bonuses.
