The Andorran government has issued a final ruling regarding the appeal lodged by Jocs SA, the company that won the tender to run the future casino, and has ordered the Andorran Gambling Regulation Council to proceed to grant a class A gambling licence.
Although Jocs SA was awarded the most points in the tender and therefore declared the winner, the Andorran Gambling Regulation Council (CRAJ in Catalan) later refused to grant the licence due to an alleged architectural error in the building that will house the casino. The technical documentation resubmitted by Jocs SA through an appeal certified that the architectural plans were correct, which the company had maintained at all times.
Having studied and assessed Jocs SA’s appeal, the Andorran government has finally given the all-clear for the licence to be granted. It has issued a ruling to this end, ordering the CRAJ to proceed to grant the class A gambling licence.
Jocs SA, with technological support from Novomatic, is delighted to receive the government’s ruling and is aiming to open the casino in 2022. Construction work is due to begin in the autumn. The project, located on Carrer Prat de la Creu in the capital city
Andorra la Vella, is predicted to create 200 jobs and attract 270,000 visitors in its first year. As well as the range of gambling activities available in the casino, the project also foresees the organisation of international poker tournaments, shows and other general events, as well as a dining area led by various local chefs and cocktail master Javier de las Muelas (Dry Martini). Jocs SA wants to make Andorra’s first casino a leading establishment in southern Europe and a new tourist attraction for the country.
