This new strategy comes after the agreement reached with the American Gaming Association (AGA) and its campaign “Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly” to educate fans of the competition around the world. Also, in this direction, the association has been expanded with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) in which the MLB accesses as a "Platinum Member" and is part of the steering group. This competition was the first of a professional nature to enter this group in 2005.

Through these measures, MLB will promote ads on its broadcasts and digital channels that promote responsible gaming. In addition, the league will act as an advisor so that its 30 clubs can launch similar campaigns.

The Executive Vice President of Business Development of the MLB, Kenny Gersh, has assessed the agreement in this way: “with the growth in the legalization of betting in the country, the MLB is committed to ensuring that fans who choose to bet have the tools and resources needed to do so responsibly” adding that “with the additional experience and resources of the AGA and NCPG we will be able to extend our responsible gaming efforts further, offering education, warnings and a support service that maintain the healthy, fun and entertaining sport for all those who participate”.

For his part, AGA Senior Vice President Casey Clark commented that “welcoming MLB as a Have a Game Plan partner is a milestone for the campaign and efforts for Responsible Gaming across the country. The MLB understands that the legal stakes grow so the collective commitment also. This partnership will have a significant impact, teaching fans across the country the foundation of Responsible Gaming.”

Finally, NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte “applauded MLB's commitment to tackle problem gambling and expand its efforts to support Responsible Gaming education for fans and families across the country. If gambling becomes a problem, knowing the resources to help is crucial. MLB's outreach will significantly impact awareness of the NCPG Helpline and all the resources available to deal with issues."
