The President of the Autonomous City of Ceuta, Juan Vivas, participated this Thursday in CeutaTech, a business-focused event held in Málaga and organized by the Ceuta Chamber of Commerce, aimed at reinforcing Ceuta’s position as a strategic hub for investment and entrepreneurship, particularly in the digital and technology sectors.
This gathering follows a similar event held in Seville last March and brought together more than 150 attendees, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, and public institutions.
In his closing speech, Vivas emphasized that “Ceuta is a safe and attractive destination for business investment and entrepreneurship,” citing the rapid growth of emerging sectors such as online gaming, which now employs over 1,000 people in the city—nearly 10% of private sector employment.
Vivas also referred to the developments at the border since its reopening in May 2022, noting that “far from harming the local economy, it coincided with record figures in Social Security affiliation.”
Attendees at the event included Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Málaga; Javier Salas, the Government’s Deputy Representative in Málaga; Rocío Blanco, Andalusian Minister for Economy; and officials from the Málaga Port Authority.
From Ceuta, the delegation was led by Kissy Chandiramani, Minister of Finance, Economic Transformation, and Digital Transition; Nicola Cecchi, Minister of Tourism, Trade, Employment, and Sport; and Juan Manuel Doncel, President of the Ceuta Port Authority.
The Málaga event is part of Ceuta’s broader strategy to promote economic development through digital transformation, which also includes President Vivas’ recent appearance at the Forbes Houses Club in Madrid, where he showcased the city’s investment potential to a group of prominent business leaders and investors.
