Entain grows 7% in net gaming revenue during 2021

Entain has published a detailed report with valuable financial information, its main transactions and future prospects, from which we highlight the following aspects:

• Strong growth across the Group with NGR up 7% (8%cc) in the year
• Group underlying EBITDA increased 1.4% +5% to £881.7 million at the top end of the guide
• Online underlying EBITDA was up +12% to £899.0m, reflecting double-digit growth in all key markets except Germany and the Netherlands (excluding Germany and the Netherlands, online NGR was +21cc %).
• Total Group Revenue of £3,830.0m +8% (+9% cc) in 2021
• Group profit after tax was £275.6m, up 142% from 2020
• Online NGRs up 12% (13% cc) in 2021, ninth consecutive year of double-digit online growth
• Good performance in Retail as year-end volumes returned to over 90% of pre-Covid-19 pandemic levels
• BetMGM continues to strengthen as a leader in the fast growing US market, revenue was almost 5 times higher than the previous year
• Established as the No. 2 sports betting and iGaming operator with a 23% market share in Q4 across all markets in which it operates
• Market leader in iGaming with a 29% market share in the fourth quarter of 2021 in the markets in which it operates
• Presence in 21 markets, reaching over 37% of the US adult population with launches in Illinois and Ontario planned for the coming months
• Improved expectations of net income from operations of more than $1.3 billion in 2022 and
• Completed acquisitions of Bet.pt in Portugal and Enlabs AB in the Baltics, as well as UNIKRN to drive access to the esports skills-based betting market.
• Further growth secured since the start of the new financial year with three transactions, including the acquisition of Avid Gaming to drive growth across Canada.
• Launch of the Ennovate center to explore the use of innovative technologies, products and services to further enhance the customer experience
• Further progress under the Group Sustainability Charter offering industry-leading ESG
• The ARCTM program continues to progress well, with real-time customer interaction testing underway, along with the initial stages of international implementation.
• A number of initiatives were launched throughout the year, including a commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2035, and EnTrain to benefit the lives of 1 million people through access to technology.
• Named EGR Operator of the Year as well as Socially Responsible Operator of the Year at the North American SBC Awards
• Entain continues to be the only online gaming company included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, in addition to its continued inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index.

Nygaard-Andersen has also reported that the retail business "have now returned to 90% of pre-Covid levels as restrictions have eased and customers have returned to our shops."
