Spanish online gambling is preparing for the biggest change in years. The Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) is finalizing the common mechanism for detecting risky behavior, the algorithm that all state-licensed operators will have to apply every month. Its second public consultation closes on October 22 and the resolution will come into force two months after being published in the BOE. From that day on, players marked as risky will not be able to receive promotions, will be excluded from VIP programs, will be restricted from advertising and will not be able to use credit cards.

The impact will be enormous. According to the DGOJ itself, 15% of players account for 88.4% of losses, and today the 55 active operators detect between 0% and 13.6% of players at risk. With a common criterion for all, the trading map will change all at once: welcome offers, wagering requirements, loyalty programs, bonuses and means of payment. All operators will move at once. The question is who will see it first.

GMONITOR is the answer. Its competitive intelligence platform reviews every night the promotions, games, quotas and registration processes of all licensed operators, and every morning it delivers a daily report that says what has changed, why it matters and what to do. Every move by a rival is sorted by its impact on its market share, and every piece of data linked to the website from which it comes from. No opaque estimates.

Effective. According to the company, its customers detect competitors' movements the same week they occur, while the official data from the DGOJ reflects them about thirteen weeks later. A quarter of advantage to react while it still counts, not when the damage has already been done.

Profitable. In the case of a top-tier operator that publishes GMONITOR itself, the platform returned more than 40 hours of analyst work per week, allowed it to go from 14 sources of information to a single one and reduced its response time to a rival promotion from day 10 to day 1. Fewer subscriptions, fewer hours wasted and better decisions. The DGOJ estimates that adapting to the algorithm will cost about 130,000 euros per operator: this is not the time to waste blindly competing.

Necessary. With the new mechanism, every euro in promotions will have to be better targeted. GMONITOR allows you to compare the conditions of each offer with those of all the competition before investing in matching that of a rival. In addition, it analyzes the means of payment and the registration and identity verification processes, key areas now that players at risk will only be able to use nominative means of payment.

Revolutionary. GMONITOR, winner of the SBC First Pitch in Lisbon and two-time finalist in the SBC Awards 2026, already works with top-tier regulated operators. And it does so without processing any player data: only public information, which fits with what the DGOJ requires, which prohibits using the category of player at risk for commercial purposes.

A must-have. CEO Rishin Kesarla and COO Hakon Magnusson will explain it tomorrow, October 15, at the Gaming in Spain Conference in Madrid, with their analysis of the process of registering new players in Spain. The market is going to change in two months. Don't be left behind: with GMONITOR, you will know how the same week has changed.
