The equestrian competitions remain closed in almost all the world, also in Uruguay. But the people in charge of the National Race Track of Maroñas and the Hippodrome of Las Piedras managed by Codere begin to draw up a plan to return to activity that will be sent to the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Therefore, "a safety health protocol will be drafted to protect all the equestrian players, and the general population on the day the races resume."
They have estimated that only essential workers can enter the racetracks, call them trainers, riders, caretakers and authorized personnel, who must go through entry controls every day.
The presence of the owners in the matches is also prohibited, and the hours to occupy the tracks would be between 07:00 and 11:00 and closed-door races.
We recall that in 2002, the Uruguayan Government awarded the contract to operate the Maroñas Racetrack to Hípica Rioplatense S.A. (a joint venture between CODERE and the SLI Group) for a period of 30 years. With the reopening in 2003, which represented an investment of 50 million dollars, Maroñas has regained its prestige as a racetrack of the first order and is CODERE's first incursion into the business model known as racino.
In 2016, Hipódromo Nacional de Maroñas made the greatest investment since its reopening, constructing its new grass track and Villa Hípica, in addition to investing in significant technological improvements which will enable it to transmit its signal in HD. Likewise, the venue veterinary service was certified under the ISO 9000 standard, and the racetrack received the principal world turf authorities at the ICRAV (21st International Conference of Racing Analysts and Veterinarians). At year-end, Codere acquired the remaining 50% of HRU (Hípica Rioplatense de Uruguay), integrating complete management of its activities.
