Stanley Ho: Macao's architect of development as the Asian gaming capital has died
Stanley Ho, renowned gaming businessman and creator of the spectacular development of the sector in Macao, has died on May 26 at the age of 98 in a hospital in his native Hong Kong.
Recognized for possessing one of the greatest fortunes on the Asian continent, Stanley Ho played a key role in the development of the gaming sector in Macao with large investments, managed by the Macao Tourism and Amusement Society, actions that earned him international recognition as the "King of the game".
In the former Portuguese colony, the gaming sector represents approximately 50% of economic activity, making it one of the main job creators.
On the other hand, we must highlight that Stanley Ho combined his work in the gaming industry with other businesses and different activities in favor of the development of the city of Macao. Thus, he participated in businesses such as real estate, hotel, construction and transportation; and, he contributed to the drafting of laws while he was always involved in the big projects of the city.
