Casinos will be able to reopen in England on Saturday August 1st, after a prolonged closure of more than four months. As expected, the casinos have announced their reopening, dates and security measures to implement to protect both employees and customers.
Casinos Genting and Grosvenor in Newcastle have already confirmed their reopening on August 1st. Meanwhile, Casino Aspers promises to announce more details about its return to operations soon.
Jonathon Swaine, managing director at Grosvenor Casinos, said:
“The health and safety of our customers and team remains our priority.”
"We want to create the best gaming and hospitality experience which guests know and love and a lot of work has gone into ensuring we have the highest standards of hygiene and safety measures in place to do so when we reopen. We’re looking forward to welcoming customers back to Grosvenor Casino clubs across the country very soon.”
On the protocols to implement, Swaine said:
"Upon entering the casino, customers will be expected to use hand sanitiser which will be readily available at dispensers, whilst enhanced cleaning will take place throughout each day, including tables, chips and machines,"
"To create a fun experience in the safest way possible, each casino will make screens available at all its gaming tables and in between electronic machines. There will also be restrictions on the number of people who can play games at any one time.”
Contrary to what is stipulated in many gaming establishments in the reopening, there are no limitations for the use of cash and the use of the mask is not mandatory, as stated by the managing director of Grosvenor Casinos:
"Grosvenor Casinos will continue to accept cash and is encouraging customers to use contactless payment where possible. There will be safety shields at all tills to protect both team members and customers, and face masks will be offered as an option to wear.”
"Guests will still be able to enjoy food and drink with dining seating appropriately spaced out and can be pre-ordered at their table or from their machine, either using the online app, or by placing an order with the valet service using the disposable one-use table menus."
Similarly, Genting has advanced the security measures to be implemented at the reopening:
"There are only three players to a live table game at any time to allow safe distancing. Glass screens between slots machines and e-Tables protect you whilst you play. There have been several hand sanitizing stations placed around the casino for you to use. We have increased our deep cleaning procedures throughout the casino, on tables and machines."
"Personal protective equipment is available for all our guests and staff to use in our casinos. Please protect others – if you do not feel well, please do not visit.”
"We've reduced the number of guests our Casinos can accommodate to allow for distancing measures."
