Jdigital appoints a CEO while Bet365, Betway and Codere join the board of directors

Jdigital, Spain's digital gaming association, recently approved in its extraordinary assembly the new structure of the organization with the aim of reinforcing its influence and streamlining daily procedures, something especially relevant due to the complicated regulatory situation facing the online gaming sector in Spain, after the approval of the new draft of the Royal Decree of Commercial Communications by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

The main updates in the structure of the association are the reinforcement of the Board of Directors with the incorporation of three large online gaming operators, as well as the creation of the figure of a CEO who will lead the day-to-day management of the organization.

The new members of the Jdigital Board of Directors are Bet365, Betway and Codere, which join the operators Sportium, Paddy Power Betfair, Botemania, Luckia, GVC and William Hill, and the service providers Playtech and Paysafe.

Likewise, the assembly unanimously approved the signing of Andrea Vota as the new CEO of Jdigital. Vota is a consultant specialized in Institutional Relations and Corporate Communication, who has worked for specialized consultancies such as Political Intelligence, in the Public Affairs division of Multinationals by Marca España, and has served as general director of APRI (Association of RRII Professionals) during 5 years, and recently as director of Public Affairs and Communication at CIRC, a German micro-mobility company. In addition, Vota is co-founder and president of Equoevento Spain, an NGO present in several European cities, and focused on the fight against food waste at events.

"I am very grateful to Jdigital for their trust and very happy to be able to contribute my knowledge and experience to the association at such a delicate moment for the sector," explains Andrea Vota. “The online gaming industry faces very important challenges for its survival, and for this reason, at Jdigital we will fight with all available resources to improve any foolish decision that may harm a secure and fully regulated sector, to avoid the destruction of jobs in a moment of economic crisis like the one we are experiencing ”, he adds. "Therefore, from the association we have a fundamental challenge that is to protect the reputation of a self-regulated sector, which thanks to new technologies offers guarantees to users, consumers and, above all, to the vulnerable population," concludes the new CEO.

Jdigital, which currently groups more than 80% of digital gaming operators in Spain, has just presented a compendium of allegations to the European Commission that show their disagreement for having accepted the emergency procedure for the Royal Decree's draft presented by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, discrimination between public and private gaming, arbitrariness in the approval of the new text, highlighting the devastating consequences of its application to gaming operators, sports clubs and the media.
