France. Online gaming had a turnover of 1,200 million euros in the first 9 months of 2020

As reported by the ANJ, the online gambling market registered a great recovery in the third quarter of 2020, more specifically, it increased its revenues by 25% compared to the second quarter of 2020.

Regarding this increase, Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, president of ANJ, commented: "This online gambling market recovery must be accompanied by greater accountability from operators."

Online sports betting record
Sports betting is the dominant activity in the online gaming market and recorded a turnover of 228 million euros in the third quarter of 2020, and also increased its gaming base by 37%, compared to 2019. However, the Average spending per player decreased by 22% (104 euros).

The level of sports betting activity has grown by 49% compared to the third quarter of 2019 and reached 1.6 billion euros. It should be noted that 64% of bets have focused on football

Online horse racing betting
Online horse racing betting grew 34% compared to the second quarter. The activity generated 363 million euros in participations, which corresponds to the highest amount of stakes recorded in this gaming segment in a quarter.

According to the ANJ report, this growth is due both to the increase in the number of bettors (+ 12%) and to the increase in average spending per player (+ 18% to 251 euros).

Online poker
The turnover during the third quarter is approximately 90 million euros, that is, an increase of 36% compared to 2019. However, these are lower figures than those registered in the second quarter when it reached 142 million euros.

Average spending per player has not changed compared to last year and is stagnant at 102 euros.
