The Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa, gaming authority in the Netherlands) has announced the investigation of 25 gaming websites and warns that if it is determined that it is possible to participate in these games from the Netherlands, sanctions will be imposed on the promoters, providers of payment services and advertisers.
The Ksa has recalled through a press release that since the 1st of November the online compliance policy has changed, and the fines have increased significantly. In this regard, the selection of the 25 websites is a first step in the implementation of this policy.
We must emphasize that, as we have previously published, the reason for the new policy is that the modified Gaming Law has made it possible to legally offer online gaming since October 1st.
The Ksa emphasizes that, through legal providers, users can play in a safe and responsible environment with the necessary protection measures when it comes to problematic gaming. It also reiterates that one of the objectives of the law is to "channel" players from illegal providers to legal providers.
Several online providers made sure they were no longer accessible from the Netherlands since the policy was changed, others were not.
