Gang of Scammers Busted, Raking in Four Million Euros in Online Betting with Stolen Identities from 210 Victims
The National Police in Malaga have dismantled a criminal group specialized in identity theft to carry out illegal bets on online gaming platforms, generating four million euros in profits in one year. Operation "Hill" has resulted in the arrest of six individuals in Madrid and Logroño, charged with fraud, document forgery, identity theft, tax crimes, money laundering, and membership in a criminal organization.

The investigation began with a complaint in Malaga about a tax scam, where the Tax Agency demanded payment of taxes on betting winnings that the victim did not make. Subsequently, numerous similar complaints were received throughout the country, totaling 210 victims.
The criminal group used stolen data to place bets and concealed profits through shell companies and bank accounts. The network moved money through 776 accounts to hinder tracing. The organizational structure included a Spanish citizen and his wife at the top, with members responsible for opening accounts and transferring funds.
Raids were carried out at the homes of the leaders in the Community of Madrid, resulting in the seizure of real estate, luxury vehicles, and numerous effects related to criminal activity. The asset investigation revealed real estate investments and a high standard of living for the leaders.
The facts are known to the Court of Instruction number 12 of Malaga, and the leader of the network has been remanded in provisional custody.
