The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has unveiled a significant new initiative aimed at leveraging the power of the gaming community for social good. The Global Social Impact Initiative (GSII) is set to launch a series of programs and actions designed to achieve a social impact while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The GSII will be supported by the GEF’s Global Impact Partners, who have committed to a multimillion-dollar, multi-year backing until 2030. Key partners include Intel, the sports organization Commonwealth Sport, Infinite Reality—owners of Rogue—and the parent company of the Carolina Royal Ravens, ReKT Global.
The GSII will focus on several critical areas, including digital transformation, education, environmental sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and well-being, universal connectivity, and youth employment. The initiative aims to implement specific programs and calls to action, leveraging the reach of its partners to drive significant changes in these fields.
The announcement was made at the “Change the Game” conference hosted by UNESCO, held in conjunction with the Summer Olympics in Paris. This launch represents a pivotal moment for the Global Esports Federation and its global community, seeking to harness the influence and reach of esports and gaming to foster positive societal change.
GEF CEO commented: "The launch of the Global Social Impact Initiative marks a critical moment for our organization and the entire esports community. By leveraging our reach and the support of our partners, we are committed to making a lasting and positive impact aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Collective action has the potential to drive significant progress and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future."
The Global Social Impact Initiative highlights the potential for collaboration between the esports sector and its partners to advance social progress and achieve crucial global goals.
