Interim Chair of the UK Gambling Commission Appointed

Charles served as Chief Executive Officer of The Pensions Regulator in the UK from April 2019 to March 2023. Before this, he was CEO of the Money Advice Service and Executive Director of Automatic Enrolment at The Pensions Regulator.

During his tenure at the regulator, Charles developed a new corporate strategy focused on placing pension savers at the heart of the regulator’s activities. He spearheaded the introduction of the first Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy and Climate Change strategies, both aimed at driving change within the regulator and across the pensions sector in the UK.

Throughout his career, he has played key roles in setting up and delivering large-scale change programs requiring significant stakeholder relationship management, both in the private sector and in senior public sector appointments in the United Kingdom.
