Nordic gaming company Paf has released its Annual Report for 2024, revealing a year of strong performance supported by sustainable growth and firm commitments to responsible gaming.
The Paf Group's revenue increased by 3%, rising from €177.1 million in 2023 to €183.0 million in 2024. Despite the increase in turnover, earnings slightly declined by 1%, from €55.1 million to €54.3 million, largely due to rising gaming taxes in Finland and Sweden.
“We had a strong year and managed expectations well regarding tax increases,” said Christer Fahlstedt, Paf’s CEO. The company paid €11.8 million more in gaming taxes than the previous year.
Despite financial pressure, Paf continues to rely on a large base of players who wager small amounts, ensuring long-term stability without promoting harmful behavior. “Gaming taxes are essential so that companies can give back to society,” Fahlstedt added.
€21.5 Million to Society Through Paf Funds
One of the highlights of the report is Paf’s annual social contribution of €21.5 million, allocated to areas including social welfare, youth programs, culture, sports, and environmental initiatives.
“There’s no other company in the industry currently doing what Paf does in terms of balancing profits and responsibility,” said Jan-Mikael von Schantz, Chairman of the Board.
Lower Loss Limits, Higher Standards
As part of its mission for sustainable entertainment, Paf lowered its annual loss limit for young players aged 20–24 in 2024, and in March 2025, reduced the general loss limit for all customers to €16,000.
Fahlstedt expressed surprise and disappointment over Finnish state-owned Veikkaus raising its loss limit: “We’re going in one direction—toward sustainability. They’re going in another.”
Transparent Player Segments
Paf stands out for its transparent reporting. The company saw a 12.3% increase in revenue from the “green segment” of sustainable players. All customer segment data is independently audited, setting a benchmark for the industry.
“We would love to see more operators be as open with their numbers as we are,” Fahlstedt said in closing.
