Driven by MoonPay's gateway, the agreement will allow participants to pay their buy-ins with digital assets commission-free and, for the first time, collect cashouts directly in stablecoins.
The convergence between blockchain technology and the elite gaming industry has reached a major milestone. The Solana Foundation has announced a marquee sponsorship agreement with the World Series of Poker (WSOP), positioning its high-performance network as the official payment processor for the most iconic events on the international poker circuit. This technological deployment aims to eliminate the friction and high costs traditionally associated with cross-border banking wires for the global poker community.
The integration, developed in collaboration with crypto payments firm MoonPay Commerce, has made its debut at the current WSOP edition in Las Vegas, where players can now settle their buy-ins using the native token SOL or various Solana-based stablecoins with zero processing fees. The second phase of the rollout will activate this December at the WSOP Paradise tournament in the Bahamas, introducing the option for winners to receive their payouts instantly in a digital format.
Beyond the financial rails, the deal grants Solana unprecedented visibility in the entertainment industry. The brand will enjoy extensive media exposure, ranging from broadcast set branding to the graphics featured on the physical tournament table felts during the coverage of the Main Event, scheduled to kick off on July 2. Furthermore, both organizations have confirmed they are already collaborating on the development of on-chain poker utilities and products for future rollouts.
