Cash prizes, changes to play bonuses and online betting

In accordance with current regulations, security measures have been implemented in all areas in order to guarantee that admission, stay, play and other activities can be carried out in a safe way.

About the game, The Zarzuela Racecourse has designed a new procedure to increase prevention and hygiene measures. There was no change in cash at the ticket offices; instead, fans received 90-day valid game bonuses.

The winners did receive cash, for which it was necessary to enable six ticket offices with previously disinfected money. On the other hand, they had the online game option available, which can only be used at the racecourse.

Other prevention measures implemented were the following:
• Reduced capacity
• Acquisition of tickets only online, to avoid crowds at the ticket offices
• To enter, the use of a mask is compulsory for everyone (public, jockeys, coaches and staff).
• Continuous repetition by public address system on the security measures implemented
• Before each race and during the presentation of the horses, there were demarcated areas where only jockeys, trainers and owners could enter.
• Signs on stairs and stands, to order the route of the public
• Elevators reserved for people with disabilities
• Disinfection every 30 minutes of all areas
• Reduced use of cash

About this first activity with the public, Álvaro de la Fuente, president of The Zarzuela Racecourse expressed: “All the rules have been met, all the protocol. What we have put special emphasis on is ensuring that all attendees wear a mask." And, he added that this experience “is a good example for other sports and shows that now want to open up to the public. Although it is true that we have a difference that is a fundamental advantage: our activity takes place outdoors on a farm of 110 hectares, where the public is not quiet and close to other people, but in continuous mobility”.
