GENDA SEGA Entertainment announced that the company name has changed to GENDA GiGO Entertainment after acquiring 100 percent of the company's shares. Also, the company has reported that it will change the name of all existing Sega arcade centers to GiGO.
We must highlight that the parent company GENDA previously held 85.1% of GENDA GiGO's shares following the acquisition of Sega Entertainment in 2020 and acquired the remaining 14.9% of Sega on January 28.
As reported by the company, the name changes of the venues will begin next March, although the entire process is expected to take a year and a half.
Venues owned by GENDA GiGO include Sega arcades, Sega World, Club Sega, and the Sega Collaboration Cafe.
Company president Nao Kataoka explained that GiGO is short for "Get into the Gaming Oasis."
It is important to mention that GiGO is not an unknown name for fans of Japanese arcade machines. The name appeared on the Sega Ikebukuro GiGO building that closed at the end of 2021. When Genda opened a new arcade nearby in October 2021, the company simply called it Sega Ikebukuro. In the near future, the facility will be renamed GiGO Ikebukuro.
