In China, the Ministry of Finance has reported that lottery sales totaled 4.33 billion euros in April, which represents 5.6% less than in March, but an increase of 6.7% compared to the same period in 2021.
Other data to highlight about lottery sales in China are:
- Sales of lottery tickets to support the social welfare system amounted to 1,665 million euros, that is, 7.2% more than in April 2021, but 10% less than in March.
- Lottery tickets sold to support the sports industry amounted to €2.66 billion, up 6.5% year over year and down 2.7% from the previous month.
- Keno-type games posted revenue of €317 million, down 2.1% from March and growing 46.6% year-on-year.
- Instant games accounted for €338 million of total sales, down 19.9% from March, while video lottery game revenue fell from €1.5 million to €139 thousand.
- In the first four months of the year, lottery ticket sales across the country totaled 16,341 million euros, increasing by 3.2% year-on-year.
We should mention that, according to lottery management regulations in China, the funds raised from ticket sales are used to finance prizes, administrative expenses and public welfare projects.
