This is how Coljuegos wants to help recover the gambling sector (land-based and online) in Colombia
Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, President of the Colombia´s Regulator Coljuegos, has given an interesting interview to the newspaper La República, explaining the measures with which the country's Administration intends to contribute to the reactivation of games of luck and chance, both land-based and online. We collect his most outstanding reflections and initiatives.
We highlight the interesting reflections of Coljuegos, personalized in the voice of its President Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, in an interview published by the Colombian newspaper La República.
As we will see, in their responses, the importance of the sector in the financing of Public Health is emphasized, in the role of gambling as a hobby and entertainment in these days of confinement and the measures taken to mitigate the fall in income caused mainly by the suspension of sport worldwide.
It is appreciated that although the urgency of measures to reactivate the sector is pressing, the first words of the President of Coljuegos are to place emphasis on the contribution that gaming operators - public and private - make to the state coffers to finance the Health in the Country. A figure that in terms of VAT exploitation rights, Pérez Hidalgo places it at about $ 1.88 billion.
To the question about what percentage of what is played goes in taxes, Pérez Hidalgo gives some figures on specific games such as the Baloto, where out of total sales the tax burden reaches 32.5%, in the Super Astro game, with 19% and online games, where the payment of prizes at the moment is close to 90%.
In the words of Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, "at this time, entertainment has become almost a necessity and a therapy to depart from the world situation." A reflection that justifies the support that must be given to public and private gaming platforms since, as we have already commented, the money generated by the game makes a great contribution to finance the Colombian public health system: "Let's say that the objective It has a monopoly on the games of luck and chance that the State administers, it is to generate resources that are very important for the health our citizens. "
The protocols that we have are those that President Iván Duque has been announcing: "We must bear in mind that these products are sold where there are transactional networks, so these points that had been working before the emergency were enabled, and so that they could selling games of luck and chance, the protocol was implemented that basically has working hours to spray, minimum distance of two meters between each person and the use of masks ".
We took that protocol to the Ministry of Health and it was approved. Today it is working and the municipal and departmental health secretariats must verify that it is actually complied with.
In the absence of sports betting, the National Gaming Council has already approved the live casino, which allows you to play at the tables, but virtual games. We also enable the online sale of the Super Astro and the Baloto, we are then in all the technological development part, but the idea is that people will be able to buy Baloto and the Super Astro through the online channel or through the different platforms authorized by Coljuegos and I think this will be enabled in a month.
