Coinciding with the resumption of sports practice in Andorra after Covid-19, the Govern d´Andorra wants to position itself as a benchmark in the eSports segment and has just taken a definitive step to regulate this activity. This has been proved by the Council of Ministers of the Principality, leaving the future "Comissió Andorrana d 'Esports Electrònics" the development and control functions of the project.
The Andorran Minister of Presidency, Economy and Business, Jordi Gallardo last week presented the details of a project that seeks to position the Principality of Andorra as a benchmark in the field of regulation of Electronic Sports (eSports). Starting with the constitution of a supervisory and control body, the Andorran Commission of Esports, made up of professional and non-professional sports clubs, wants to start as soon as possible to develop a legal framework that grants the Principality the most novel and clear legislation about this activity.
And is that eSports continue to grow and take center stage in the world of entertainment, and with an increase of 15% in the past year (already expanded with an extra 10% during the months of confinement in this 2020), it is a sector strategic in which a country like Andorra (with good technological infrastructures) has a lot to offer to fans, clubs, professional players and promoter companies.
It is expected that in just one year, Andorra can already be a star destination in terms of eSports competitions, something that the Principality has already amply demonstrated in other types of events, and this can serve to put this country on the map. only for its winter sports but for this new sporting modality of so much success.
