The Government of Macau has announced that it will publish the rules for the public tender for new concessions for gaming operations scheduled for 2022, when the current concessions come to an end.
The announcement was made by the Secretary of Economy and Finance, Lei Wai Nong, who also informed that "gambling concessionaires and sub-concessionaires" will be encouraged to "expand non-gambling activities" in order to diversify the economy whose income depends 75% on the gaming and tourism industry.
In this regard, after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Macao has set as goals the stabilization of the economy, the maintenance of employment, the prevention and control of the virus, as well as the resumption of economic activities.
