The Workers' Commissions (CCOO) and the General Workers' Union (UGT), the two historical unions in Spain, joined the employers' associations Foment and Cecot to present a manifesto that reaffirms their support for workers in the sector and demands immediate reopening. In this regard, they highlight that the 183 gaming halls in Catalonia employ 8 thousand people and generate 220 million euros a year in taxes.
The Catalan gaming sector has taken to the streets on several occasions to demonstrate against what they consider to be a discriminatory decision, since gaming is the only daytime activity that remains closed, despite the fact that its premises are not characterized by having crowds.
It is then about making the industry equal to the rest of the economic commercial activities, it is not about achieving privileges but about being able to go back to work.
