 The American Gaming Association (AGA) has released a detailed report on the revenue recorded during the second quarter of 2021, a period in which gaming revenue grew by almost 500 percent compared to the second quarter of 2020.

AGA has reported that traditional casino, sports betting, and iGaming commercial gaming revenues exceeded $ 13.6 billion, that is, grew 22.6% compared to the first quarter of 2021, driven by expanded capacity and strong general trends. of consumer spending.

However, the association warns that gaming revenue is just one segment of all that the industry can encompass, considering that live entertainment, dinners, hotel reservations, and meetings and conventions have yet to recover.

It should be noted that gaming once again outperformed the economy in general, consequently 2021 is on track to become the highest grossing year in the history of the gaming industry, having generated $ 24.8 billion in revenue in the former six months.

AGA has highlighted that the increase in consumer activity in land-based establishments, more specifically the combined revenues of the second quarter from slots and table games reached a record of $ 11.8 billion, an increase of 9.9% from the previous high and a 12% increase from the second quarter of 2019.

When it comes to sports betting, the AGA report indicates that they had their second-best quarter to date, they generated $ 888.9 million, falling 7.5 percent quarter-on-quarter, but growing more than 600 percent during the same. three-month period in 2019. While iGaming continued to set records, reaching $ 901 million during the quarter, 14.9% more than the first quarter of this year.

Considering the above, combined revenue from sports betting and iGaming represented 13.1% of total gaming revenue in Q2 2021, slightly down from 15.7% in Q1.
