The Gaming Control Board has updated the information related to income according to the reports received from the casinos and states that during January the figure was almost $1.1 billion in income, an increase of 41.6% compared to January 2021, when the casinos were still operating under the operational restrictions of COVID-19.
Las Vegas Strip accounted for more than half of the state's total, collecting $567.2 million in gaming revenue in January, up 76.4% from a year ago. The figure was also 6.6% higher than January 2019.
These significant revenues were made possible despite the impact of Ómicron, which caused a more than 75% drop in attendance at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Now, considering the data reported by the Board, Strip gaming revenue fell less than 1% compared to the pre-pandemic month of January 2020.
Looking back at the important event and convention business, overall hotel occupancy rose to 59.3% in January, ahead of the 31.6% hotel occupancy a year ago, but far below 85 percent in January 2019. Midweek occupancy was 5% in January, while weekend occupancy was 74.6%.
As for sports betting, January marked the state's fourth consecutive $1 billion grossing month, with casinos taking in $1.1 billion in wagers, an increase of 71.7% from January 2021.
Likewise, mobile sports betting exceeded $787.7 million, which represents 71% of all sports bets.
