 Entain registers a record of bets in the Grand National: 12.75 million during the three days of the event

 
 Entain sets a record for betting on one of horse racing's biggest events: the Grand National. In this regard, the group confirms that through its Coral and Ladbrokes brands it received a total of 12.75 million bets during the three days of the event, 4.1 million of which were registered on Saturday.

Entain highlights that users celebrated the first in-person Grand National since 2019 by returning to high street shops and getting in on the action online.

The annual event attracts millions of customers once a year who choose a horse they believe will hold their own in the four-mile (6.4 km) and 2.5 furlongs (502.92-meter) extreme race, taking victory against 40 runners in the race.

About this year's event, Entain emphasizes that it turned out to be another great day for its customers, who got in on the action both in-store and online through its Ladbrokes and Coral brands. It was made extra special as fans were able to both physically attend the annual festival and step inside betting shops to wager on the Grand National for the first time since 2019.

In total, Entain brands placed 12.75 million bets during the three-day Grand National period, marking an increase in bets in 2019, the last time both retail and digital were able to be used. On Saturday in particular, Entain recorded:
  • 4.1 million bets. Total bets increased by 72% compared to 2021.
  • Over 20,000 bets per minute online before the race, demonstrating the scalability of Entain's industry leading platform.
  • 538,000 active online customers, for Ladbrokes and Coral combined.
  • Customer service agents responded in less than half a minute on average.

The event culminated in a fairytale Grand National win for 50-1 winner Noble Yeats, ridden by amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen. 65,000 bets were placed on Noble Yeats across all Entain brands.

Dom Grounsell, Deputy Director of Digital at Entain, said: “We were delighted to see the Grand National returning in all its glory with a huge crowd to cheer on the runners and riders. We pulled out all the stops to add to the moments of excitement for our customers across all our brands, apps and shops, and we were the only major operator to provide uninterrupted service from our platform and our customer support teams.”

Also, he underlines that the magical end of the race shows that there is no event capable of generating so much passion and interest in users.
