Everything indicates that on June 23 the government will sign a new extension of casino licenses for six additional months.
We should mention that the licenses of the six Macau franchisees, Sands China, SJM Holdings, Melco Resorts, Wynn Macau, MGM China and Galaxy Entertainment expired this month.
According to several Macao media, when the extension is signed, the licenses will be valid until December 31, 2022, thus giving more time for the process of new tenders and each operator will have to pay €5.4 million.
As we have published on other occasions, it is still pending that the city legislature approve an amended gaming law, which will establish the standards for the gaming industry.
In this regard, and regarding satellite casinos, Ho Iat Seng, the chief executive of Macau, assured that none of the pending laws will set back the progress of the gaming industry in the region.
