The Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa, Dutch gaming authority) draws the attention of game industry providers and major players in the world of advertising to the imminent ban on the use of famous people in gaming advertisements.
According to a press release, the Ksa confirms that it will closely monitor compliance with the stricter rules that will apply from June 30. As of this date, all people who enjoy public fame, such as (former) professional footballers, influencers and models will not be able to appear in gaming ads. Only charity lotteries, the state lottery and the lottery are exempt from the ban.
We must point out that gaming providers of chance have been notified because they are responsible for their advertising; while selected influencers and marketing agencies and industry associations have been informed because they are important links in the advertising sector.
As of June 30, the Ksa will monitor whether they comply with the ban. In case of non-compliance, the authority will act.
