The Legislative Assembly of Macau approved on Tuesday, June 21, the new gaming bill, which establishes, among other aspects, the process of issuing new casino licenses.
As we have previously published, the law proposes the participation of the government as supervisors of daily operations and thereby tightens restrictions on the gaming industry.
In this way, the new law that imposes strict restrictions on the operation of the industry. Gaming taxes have been increased marginally from 39% to 40%, while new licenses will be granted for up to 10 years, instead of the current 20 years.
The bidding documents are expected to include important details such as new license fees and what kind of commitment operators will have to make in non-gaming related investments.
