Flutter has taken an important step in its expansion strategy after completing the purchase of Sisal. In this regard, the group guarantees a 20% share of Italian online gaming, the second largest regulated gaming market in Europe.
As we recently published, Flutter received all necessary regulatory confirmations for the Sisal acquisition and the transaction was completed on Thursday, August 4, 2022.
According to the company, the incorporation of Sisal allows them great strategic achievements such as those described below:
- It guarantees a position at the top of the Italian market. More specifically, the combination of Sisal with PokerStars and Betfair will result in a combined online stake of 20%.
- Increased Group exposure to an attractive, regulated and fast-growing online market: Italy is the second largest regulated gaming market in Europe and one that has seen online penetration
- Sisal's omnichannel offering will provide a competitive advantage to Flutter's business, particularly given Italy's advertising restrictions and the prevalence of cash deposits and withdrawals through retail.
- Increases Flutter's recreational customer base with the addition of 300,000 highly engaged average monthly online players and over 9.5 million retail customers
- Product diversification and the geographical presence of Flutter
- Increases the proportion of Flutter's revenue from regulated markets, which in the third quarter of 2021 exceeded 91%.
