In a historic moment, Las Vegas has opened its first legal cannabis consumption lounge. At 4:20 p.m., Tick Segerblom, chairman of the Clark County Commission, lit a joint to mark the beginning of this new era in the world's casino capital.
Since the legalization of recreational cannabis use in the state of Nevada, entrepreneurs have been eager to open consumption lounges in Las Vegas. The City Council approved the rules for their establishment a year ago, and now THRIVE Cannabis Marketplace becomes the first to open its doors.
This new space not only offers cannabis-derived products but also THC-infused non-alcoholic beverages, to be consumed on-site. However, the rules are strict: only those over 21 years old will be allowed to enter, and the lounges must maintain a minimum distance of 300 meters from each other and
1,500 meters from gaming establishments.
This is expected to be the first of many establishments, as local authorities have approved another 19 licenses for consumption lounges in Las Vegas.
